KB Tours · Washington DC
KB Tours drives up to 21 guests from the Navy Memorial to the Capitol, Cedar Hill, the Bethune Council House and the Mall, then ends at the museum. It is the cheapest guided drive with a real route of Black history sites, and the guide does most of the work.

KB Tours is a small local operator; reviewers mostly name Kenny, the operator. The bus stops in front of the Navy Memorial at 7th and Pennsylvania, across from the National Archives, and the listing covers about three and a half hours. On paper the route is the most complete of the driving tours: the Capitol, the White House, the Lincoln and MLK Memorials, Frederick Douglass's Cedar Hill, the African American Civil War Memorial Museum and the Mary McLeod Bethune Council House, the first national headquarters of the National Council of Negro Women.
Between the stops you pass the places most tours skip: LeDroit Park, Dunbar High School, the Howard Theatre, Howard University and the Carter G. Woodson Home, where Woodson started Negro History Week in 1926. These are drive-bys, so you hear the story through the window. At $90 per person, with lower rates for kids and seniors, it costs a fraction of the private tour.
Be realistic about two things. The route bends to the day: one July 2026 guest expected Cedar Hill and got the Bethune house instead. And the museum part is the end of the drive, not a guided visit. The listing counts museum entry among the inclusions, but entry to the museum is free with a timed pass anyway, and one unhappy guest felt the tour had "nothing to do with the Museum". Book it for the drive.
The bus stops in front of the Navy Memorial at 7th and Pennsylvania Ave NW, across from the National Archives.
The federal core first, with the Lincoln and MLK Memorials. Several of these are photo stops.
Twenty minutes listed at the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site and 30 at the Bethune Council House on Vermont Avenue.
The Civil War Memorial Museum, then drive-bys of the Howard Theatre, Dunbar High School, Howard University and the Woodson Home.
The drive ends at the museum. The listing gives an hour there; after that you are on your own.
★★★★★The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area, history to current. The bus was very comfortable, not crowded. I’ve been to D.C. before and learned so much on this tour that I didn’t know prior to the tour. I highly recommend this tour!
★★★★★The bus was comfortable and the group was small, making it easy to engage with others during the tour. The tour guide was very personable and knowledgeable.
★★★★★Mr. Kevin was magnificent! His knowledge about the African American experience in D.C. is untouchable. [...] I was fascinated by Fredrick Douglass’ s property. To conclude the tour at the African American Museum was like icing on a cake.
★★★★★Kenny was very knowledgeable about the Black Experience and contributions in Washington, DC. He was very personable and courteous to tour attendees. Kenny went above and beyond by arranging a visit to the new African American Civil War Museum.

About three and a half hours on the listing, ending at the museum. One unhappy guest reported only about an hour and a half of touring before the museum, so treat the museum hour as part of the total.
The listing counts museum entry among the inclusions, and the drive ends there. Entry to the National Museum of African American History and Culture is free with a timed pass from the museum, and the visit is self-guided. The guide does not come inside.
Cedar Hill is on the listed itinerary for 20 minutes, but it is not every time: one July 2026 guest got the Bethune Council House instead. Going inside the Douglass house takes a separate ranger tour of about 30 minutes.
Yes. The listing has youth (8 to 11), child (3 to 7) and infant (1 to 2) bands below the adult rate, and a senior band from 66. Strollers are fine; the vehicle is not wheelchair accessible.
